Happy Friday. After being drafted by the Colts, Kwity Paye told his mom, “She’s done working. She’s retired.” Amazing.

In today's Sprint:
🏈 Aaron wants out
⚾️ Cheers in Chicago

Trivia: Jaycee Horn was the first defensive player taken in the 2021 NFL draft. Who was the last defensive player to win the NFL MVP?
  1. Aaron Donald
  2. Charles Woodson
  3. Michael Strahan
  4. Lawrence Taylor

🏈 Tim Tebow may team up with former college coach Urban Meyer in Jacksonville, but at tight end. Lawrence to Tebow coached by Urban. What a sentence.
📺 Over 100k people tuned into the Pat McAfee Show's YouTube live coverage of the draft, dwarfing the live stream numbers done by ESPN or Bleacher Report. A big win for independent sports media.
🏒 Ryan Miller, Anaheim Ducks goalie, winningest American goaltender in NHL history, and 2010 Winter Olympics star, will retire at the end of the 2021 season.

Stole The Show
A 37-year-old part time Jeopardy host got all the attention heading into the NFL Draft. Aaron Rodgers told members of the Packers organization he doesn’t plan to return to the team.
How'd we get here? Since 2012, the only offensive player the Packers have drafted in the 1st round is 2020 QB Jordan Love. Rodgers, who wanted a receiver to pair with Devante Adams, was not happy the Packers picked his eventual replacement instead.
Rodgers then went 13-3, winning the NFL MVP Award. But in the playoffs he lost to Tom Brady, who pushed his way out of New England to play for a better team…
Maybe Rodgers knew then what he had to do. But Packers’ GM Brian Gutekunst has other ideas: “We’re not going to trade Aaron.”
Bottom line: The Packers selecting another defensive player in yesterday’s Draft could not have gone over well with Rodgers. His time in Green Bay may be in Jeopardy.
The draft goes live
The top 5 went as expected, with the Bengals opting to let Joe Burrow keep taking shots like this one but giving him great receivers to throw to when he is upright.
  1. Jacksonville Jaguars - Trevor Lawrence, QB Clemson
  2. New York Jets - Zach Wilson, QB BYU
  3. San Francisco 49ers - Trey Lance, QB North Dakota State
  4. Atlanta Falcons - Kyle Pitts, TE Florida
  5. Cincinnati Bengals - Ja’Marr Chase, WR LSU
Best matches made later in Round 1:
  • Chicago Bears & QB Justin Fields - the Bears traded up to #11 to take their QB1.
  • New England Patriots & QB Mac Jones - Bill Belichick didn’t even have to trade up for the Tom Brady look alike.
  • Philadelphia Eagles & WR Devonta Smith - the Heisman winner gives the Eagles and QB Jalen Hurts the elite receiver they’ve needed for years.
Feel good story: When he isn’t hurdling defenders, new Steelers running back Najee Harris does some cool stuff off the field. Yesterday, he threw a draft party for kids at the homeless shelter he used to live in.
