WATER COOLER TALK
🏈 Jim Harbaugh is donating all of his bonuses, including the $500K for beating rival Ohio State, for the 2021 season to the University of Michigan athletic dept. staff who took pay cuts during the pandemic.
Harbaugh could be donating a lot more, as he’d receive bonuses for winning the Big 10 Championship ($1 million), making the CFP ($500K), and making the National Championship ($1 million).
🏈 Robert Griffin III unveiled his new book, “Surviving Washington,” a tell-all on the dysfunction of the Dan Snyder-led Washington football franchise.
If the NFL won’t release the emails, it looks like a former player is prepared to spill the messy details. The book comes out in August 2022.
⚾️ The MLB used two different types of baseballs during the 2021 season which varied in weight. To make matters worse, players had no idea about the inconsistency.
Heavier balls lead to more home runs, but the MLB claimed it moved to balls with lighter cores to slow down offenses this season.
Now it's saying supply chain issues forced the league to use both types of balls.
Both sports betters and current free agents are upset with the news, as some may have been cheated of significant money in free agency or through potentially impacted games.
🏀 The Lakers placed LeBron in the league's health & safety protocol. The team didn't disclose if he tested positive for Covid, but the move means he either did or had an inconclusive result. If so, he'll miss a minimum of 10 days.
The Lakers are 12-11, barely staying above .500 with LeBron in and out of the lineup due to injury.
The (Almost) Final Countdown
Michigan joined the fray after a wild win over Ohio State, and Oklahoma State inched its way closer to a Playoff berth after downing rival Oklahoma and subsequently sending the program into a tailspin.
