AROUND THE LEAGUES
Maybe Next Time
Without Neymar, many expected PSG to lose to Barcelona. Or, at least, for it to be a close game.
What actually happened: PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe turned in a signature performance en route to a hat trick and a 4-1 beat down of Barcelona.
The 22-year-old looked comfortable without his running mate Neymar, wreaking havoc on a solid Barca defense.
What's next? Champions League matchups take place over two legs (or games).
Barcelona and Messi get one more chance to come back from the 1-4 hole. But they’ll be on the road in Paris, and Neymar will likely be back.
The other game
Liverpool 2 vs. RB Leipzig 0
  • Mo Salah and Sadio Mane scored within five minutes of each other to put this game away.
  • Like Barca, Leipzig has one more game to come back.
NBA
(22-7) Los Angeles Lakers 112 vs. (7-21) Minnesota Timberwolves 104
  • In a surprisingly close game, the Lakers needed someone to step up other than LeBron (30 pts, 13 reb, 7 ast). Dennis Schroeder (24 pts, 3 ast) was that guy.
(14-13) Boston Celtics 112 vs. (15-12) Denver Nuggets 99
  • Nikola Jokic‘s 43 points weren’t enough to beat the team play of the Celtics.
Other top performers: Ja Morant (28 pts, 7 reb, 8 ast) and Giannis Antetokounmpo (34 pts, 10 reb, 8 ast)
NCAAM
(13-8) Georgia 80 vs. (13-6) Missouri 70
  • Five Georgia players scored in double-digits, leading the Bulldogs to their best win of the year.
