⚽️ Lionel Messi re-signed with Barcelona on a five-year deal with a 50% pay cut. The deal’s surprising length keeps him with the club until he’s 39. But, even with the 50% pay cut, Messi will be the highest-paid athlete in the world (based on salary).

At Least England Has The British Open
The 149th British Open wraps up this year’s golf Majors. After the sports week England has had, they could use it.
When: July 15th - 18th
Where: Royal St. George’s Golf Course
Where to watch: NBC and GOLF
A beast of a course:Royal St. George (in the wonderfully named town of Sandwich) is often considered the hardest of The Open courses. Only one winner has finished -5 or better.
This week will be no different. Winds of 25+ miles per hour are expected every day. The greenskeepers use flamethrowers to make sure too much sand doesn’t blow out of the bunkers.
Despite the Masters champ not travelling, the field is stacked. Here are the early favorites:
Jon Rahm (7-1)
Bryson DeChambeau (14-1)
Dustin Johnson (15-1)
Rory McIlroy (16-1)
Rahm's incredible story: Jon Rahm, the favorite, was actually born with a club foot that limited his ankle mobility. He adapted his swing, resulting in the shortened backswing we see today.
He talked about it for the first time at an interview yesterday:
“My right leg up to the ankle was straight, my foot was 90 degrees turned inside and basically upside down.”
Doctors “broke pretty much every bone in my ankle” to fix it.
“I learned at a very young age I’m going to be more efficient at creating power and be consistent from a short swing.”
Rahm, who recently won the US Open, becomes more likable by the minute.
